About Pamela

Born in Canada, and living in the prairies of Saskatchewan until 1985, she learned the ancient art form of Ukrainian egg decorating as a young child. She loved it right away, but didn’t fully succumb to its call until she was 19. Pamela had entertained other arts such as drawing, music and poetry, but has truly found her calling with Pysanky.

Pamela learned how to decorate eggs over 20 years ago, and has her work admired by many. She has been asked to do demonstrations and classes at The University of Washington bookstore, Gene Nastri School of Arts, local public and private elementary schools, community facilities, churches, and art stores.

Pamela was honored to present an egg to First Lady, Laura Bush, in March 2008 as she was selected to represent Washington State at the National Easter Egg Display at the White House. Pamela was commissioned by the Seattle Woodland Park Zoo to decorate their Emu eggs for charitable fundraising 2003-2005. Her work has also been used for fundraising with the Zonta Organization of Everett, Washington; Northshore Christian School of Everett, Washington; FRUA International Organization of Bothell, Washington; Work Source of Lynnwood, Washington and the Cougar Mountain Zoological Park in Issaquah, Washington.

Pamela has recieved First Place ribbons for her eggs at the Washington State Fair in Monroe, WA 2007, and 2008, Honorable Mention 2008, and Chairman's Choice Award 2007. Pamela's Etched Emu eggs placed first in the Mixed Media category at the Mukilteo Lighthouse Juried Art Show 2005.

Pamela received her Masters Certification for a Pysanky Artist from the International Egg Artists Guild in September 2006, and is now one of only five in the world to receive this prestigious rating and carry this highest ranking for an artist, as Master of Pysanky.

Pamela is married with 3 children and lives in Mukilteo, Washington. Her pastimes include quilting, reading historical literature, and hiking.
